Cook-off Details
1. Chili consists of vegetables, meat, spices and chilies. No beans or pasta.
2. You're allowed to prepare the meat before the competition. The rest of the ingredients must be prepped and assembled at the event.
3. You must be set up by 10:30 am. The competition starts promptly at 11 am. Judging will take place at 2 pm.
4. Each entrant must fill out the registration form above and prepay the $15 registration fee to hold a spot. Payments are nonrefundable and this event is rain or shine.
5. Entrants are responsible for supplying all their own cooking utensils, ingredients, etc.
6. Each pot of chili will be judged on its color, aroma, texture and taste.
7. Before judging, each of the entrant's pot of chili will be assigned a number. This will be the number used for voting by our judges.
8. Judges will input a number (typically 1 to 10) for each element, and the score for each chili is simply the sum of those five numbers. The winner is the chili with the highest overall score after adding up the scores from each judge.
9. The winner will receive a trophy and a prize and will have a spot reserved in next year's challenge where they will defend their title!
10. And while it's true there can be only one cook-off winner, we will also have a prize for spiciest chili, most colorful chili and the chili with the most elusive secret ingredient.
